Binge Menu
I am really excited to be able to eat solid foods again. I understand that I won’t be able to go shred through a steak the day my doctor gives me the go-ahead, but I’m willing to slowly work my way back towards a strong jaw.
This is a list of the places I’m going to go and the meals I’m going to eat once I’m able. I will append to it as new cravings cross my mind.
Note: I don’t enjoy eating alone, so I’ll be recruiting friends to join me for these fine eats. I may also chat quite a bit when we hit these venues because, well, that will be just as exciting for me as eating.
Note 2: If you have any suggestions for tasty things I should spend all my hard-earned money on, post them in the comments on this page and I’ll check them out!

silvia,
hope i help you out…yes, braces are necessary before, during and after surgery. before to straighten most of the teeth, during because the surgeon will be moving the jaws around and the teeth are really really traumatized. and after because the bite will have to be tweeked a bit.

Hi graham, thanks for sharing your wonderful and helpful journey there. I wonder is the braces really a must before under go the surgery? Thanks

Graham, you are freaking adorable.
I am 2 weeks past my surgery and believe it or not I am really craving a chicken salad right now. I will never take chewing veggies for granted again after this.

I am on day 5 post op after a double jaw surgery and literally alls I can think of is food…. Any food even plain pasta with cheese on top sounds incredible right now! However a footlong meatball sub with extra cheese and toasted would probably make me implode! How long was it before you are anything remotely solid? I’m so hungry and these ensure milkshake things are not nice they make me feel nauseous… Need to speak to my surgeon about it I think.

Thanks so much for this blog. I am a little out of the normal demographics for double jaw surgery at 58 years old but have really appreciated the timeline. At 8 days since surgery I have finally turned a corner- eating has been a real issue for me. I have struggled to get down 14 ozs of food daily (although I’ve stayed on top of the water consumption). Today I had 26 ozs so my hope is that my strength will start to return. Again, thanks for this and your support of all the people who have responded to your posts. Pretty amazing dedication! I’m glad your life is moving on

Ha! So awesome that you’re a fellow liver and onions lover! Everyone thinks I’m the weirdest for liking it. It’s pretty good with avocado too. Also, if you’ve never had it, breaded chicken livers are the best! Hope you’ve been enjoying lots of delicious food now that you’re a normal, functioning person again.

Liver with avocado, T? That sounds weird enough to be amazing!

I’m glad you’re finding the blog useful, Shanthiya! This is probably the worst page you can view at this point. You’ll be back in action soon! =)

Ahhh, this is awful! I’m currently in my 4th day of recovery and looking at all this food is making me terribly hungry. 🙁
But, I really do want to thank you for the blog, it’s showing me that there is light at the end of this tunnel.

Oh man, I love naan! I’ve never heard of Rasoi, but I will certainly try it out sometime!

A little late now but something worth eating regularly, out, is the butter chicken at Rasoi The Indian Kitchen on 50th Street (south). Dip some naan bread in that!

If you end up getting one, I have a great and simple beef roast recipe that is heavenly.
